| October 2007 marks the introduction of the Gallagher Steve
Rector Model to honor this outstanding thumbpicker form
Muhlenberg county. Number one of the limited addition Steve
Rector Model was presented to Steve by Don Gallagher Friday
night October 5th as part of the Steve's induction ceremony as a
living legend inductee in the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame
in Muhlenberg County. Saturday October 6th, the Steve
Rector Model was displayed at the IBMA show in Nashville as
Steve and Jon played at the Gallagher Booth.
The Steve Rector Model is being distributed exclusively by
our good friends at
My Favorite Guitars.
Born in the coal camp hamlet of Beech Creek, Kentucky, Steve
Rector learned his first guitar chords from his dad. His
first encounter with thumbpicking was through a preacher that
worked with his father in the mines, Mose Rager, Merle Travis'
mentor. Steve had a conversion experience with guitar
styles that day and knew he would wear a thumbpick as long as he
was able to play.
The Steve Rector Model has the following appointments:
India Rosewood body, Engelmann Spruce top, Florentine cut-a-way,
open gear Schaller tuners, 1 11/16" neck, bone nut and saddle,
low profile neck, Black/white/Black soundhole and purfling,
Mother of Pearl quarter moon inlays in fingerboard, S.R. inlayed
at the 12th fret position, ivorid bound body, ebony armrest
optional, and a label signed and number by Steve Rector and Don
Gallagher. |
