Steve Kaufman first purchased a Gallagher Guitar in 1977- a Doc Watson model. He then won a 72 Special at the National Guitar Championship at Winfield Kansas in 1978. This guitar he named "Hazel" after J.W.'s wife. Steve went on to win the National title two more times-- the only player to ever win this prestigious contest three times.
Over the years we have made several instruments for Steve, including two 7-String guitars. Because of our long association with Steve we are proud to make a Steve Kaufman Signature Model Gallagher Guitar.
Steve and Don Gallagher collaborated to produce a very special guitar. This guitar features a rosewood cut-a-way body with an engleman spruce top. The top comes with a sunburst finish, and is boarded with abalone pearl. Wide frets make this an extremely playable and responsive instrument. A fossilized nut, saddle, and bridge pins helps to bring out the best tone possible.
This guitar is accented with Steve's personal signature meticulously inlayed in mother-of-pearl at the twelve fret position. |
