Today we concentrate on making the guitar’s rim. Wood for the sides is chosen and cut down to size, then sanded (here, with a hand-held sander, because the drum sander veritably exploded mid-sand). We also create a headblock and stamp it with the guitar’s model and serial numbers. Then the sides are placed in boiling water to prepare them for bending. The sides and the headblocks are glued together and left to dry in a model frame.
Today we also inlay a rosette into the top and leave it to dry under a stack of wood blocks. Then we spend the rest of the day fixing the drum sander.
