First thing this morning, we sand off the pore fill left to dry yesterday. The guitar is sanded so that the filler stays in the dimples of the grain, but comes off of the rest of the wood. With the pores all filled, the wood is now completely level and ready to be finished.

We want this guitar to have a dark hardplate, to match the dark tortoiseshell binding. We use wood dye to color the rosewood headplate a dark brown.
